Beth Mead’s fine form in front of goal continued on Tuesday night, scoring the game-winning goal in England’s narrow 1-0 friendly victory over Portugal.

The Lionesses dominated possession and controlled the game from start to finish, but they were made to wait until the 72nd minute for the deadlock to be broken.

Alex Greenwood’s searching cross forced an error from Patricia Morais, and Mead was on hand to fire home from less than a yard out.

Leah Williamson started the game and looked sharp in defence, while Jordan Nobbs came off the bench to play the final 25 minutes.
